MY STORY
I have over ten years of professional experience working within Musical Theatre ranging from performing at The Royal Opera House to taking lead roles in the West End and national and international tours. Shows include Mamma Mia!, Hair, Evita, Aladdin and High School Musical.
Alongside my own vocal training of many years, I have a BAST certificate in singing teaching and have been lucky enough to have a varied career throughout the industry singing different styles from pop to rock to classical.
I use vocal biology, physics and movement to pinpoint where you are at vocally to help you achieve your vocal goals using personalized exercises to bring out the full potential in your sound.
Working with directors from the RSC and numerous inspiring musical directors has taught me the importance of emoting through lyric and music. This is not just true of the Musical Theatre world but of all music. Understanding and portraying the lyric not only improves your performance but can also improve your tone, sound and your confidence.
For those looking to progress professionally; having firsthand experience in working and auditioning in the industry, I have a unique insight that can help students gain confidence and knowledge ready for their next audition or performance.
I hold an enhanced DBS and teach students from 8 years old upwards. I believe that singing is something everyone can enjoy whether adult, child, professional or hobbyist. Sometimes you just need someone to steer you in the right direction.

ONE-ON-ONE LESSONS
Your lesson will be tailor made to you and will teach you how to train you voice efficiently and safely for your needs. You will be taken through exercises and songs to enable your voice to grow, extending flexibility and improving vocal health. MINI GROUP LESSONS

ONLINE LESSONS
Need some last minute advice before a performance or audition? Don't have much time? On tour or out of the country?
Zoom lessons are the new way to get first class coaching at your fingertips, following the same structure as a one on one, it is like have a private teacher at home! They have proven to be very popular and extremely convenient, allowing me to help more students when they really need me.

I AM NEW TO SINGING, CAN ANYBODY LEARN TO SING?
Of course! Everyone starts singing lessons for different reasons, whether it be to improve their pitching, confidence or just for fun. Seeing the progress in a new student is one of the most exciting parts of my work!
DO YOU HAVE SPECIFIC TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS?
I have a BAST singing teaching qualification and attend regular teaching seminars and retreats to keep up to date with the latest research.
WHAT IS BAST?
BAST, or as it's otherwise known "Be A Singing Teacher", is a widely acclaimed course that focuses on a teaching style that encompasses vocal science, style, technique and application to song. It is fast becoming one of the most recognised singing methods worldwide.
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR TEACHING SERVICES?
I charge £50 for an hour session either in studio or Zoom. I offer half hour classes for younger children and these are £28 per session. I offer discounts for taking weekly or fortnightly lessons, I like to keep my lessons accessible so please feel free to chat with me about payment.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANNOT MAKE MY LESSON?
If you cannot make your lesson please contact me on sing@nikkimaevocals.com as soon as possible. I ask for 48 hours notice of cancellation so the time can be offered to other students. However, if the cancellation falls within 48 hours of your lesson, then it will be charged at full price.
WHERE DO YOU HOLD YOUR LESSONS?
I hold lessons in my bespoke home studio in Budleigh Salterton, it is private with parking and has a cracking view of my garden! I also teach a lot of lessons online via Zoom which means you can reach me from anywhere.
